workers installing vinyl fence

At Absolute Vinyl, we believe a fence is only as strong as its installation.

I've teased that fencing is basically, "putting a stick in a hole and making it straight."  In its' simplest form, this is a true statement.  Anyone can make the tops look straight. However, only the best installers can make the bottoms and the tops straight.  There is actually a lot that goes into installing a fence.  Here are some of the methods that make our fences top quality:

"Keep the top line fluid without sacrificing the bottom."  Remember you want the fence to look like its supposed to be there.

"Never hang a gate on the uphill side of its hole."  It won't open all the way.

"Make sure the drain spout from your raingutter is pushing the water away from a gate post."  Gates are heavy.  If the ground around the gate is saturated from water the soil will become soft which will cause the gate post to sink.  Now your gate won't latch!

"Always tamp the ground around every post correctly."  In the fencing field there is a little debate about which is better - wet concrete or dry packed concrete.  I feel that they are both good.  Most post movement is caused by improper or inadequate tamping.  Back in the day, before any concrete, fencing companies used the dirt that came out of the holes that they dug for their posts.  They would tamp (using a bar to compact the dirt, fill, rocks, etc.) around the post to hold the posts in place.  The best way to set a wooded post is to use only "3/4 crush" (rocks).  3/4 crush has a 96% compaction rate on impact and it will allow any water to escape, therefore, the post won't rot as quickly.

"Always remove all of the dirt out of the hole before the post is set."  If the loose fill isn't removed and you set a post on it, that soil will eventually settle and the post will too.

"Always use two pieces of u-channel."  U-channel holds the Tongue & Groove centered on the posts.  Also, T & G has deflection or "bend" and when the wind is strong enough the pieces can actually bend enough that they pop out of the rails and end up in your yard or down the street.  The U-channel helps keep the T & G deflection to a minimum.

Another aspect to consider is expanion and contraction.  Vinyl will expand with the summer heat and contract in the cold.  The U-channel hides the gaps that will form between the post and the T & G.

So remember, U-channel is an important element in any Vinyl Privacy fence!!!

I could go on but you get the drift. (do-it-yourself page)

Our installation methods, combined with custom fabrication, have enabled us to create top-of-the-line vinyl fences.  I first started installing fence like everyone else (truthfully, my first vinyl fence fell apart-no one told me I needed to "crimp" the rails) because thats how I was taught.  After doing it their way for a while, I decided it could be done better.  Its supposed to be "maintenance free" and if you have to maintain part of it you've just defeated the purpose of it.

All of our fences are built with premium line post and rail system, custom fabricated to fit your yard, six foot on center and two pieces of U-channell (for privacy fences).  Remember, a fence is only as good as its installation.
